This is my interpretation of this famous theme on piano. The "Habanera" is an aria from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. The song is also sometimes known by its first two lines, "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle que nul ne peut apprivoiser".
Its melody, among the most famous in the Western musical tradition, is based on a descending chromatic scale followed by variants of the same phrase in first the minor and then the major key, corresponding with the vicissitudes of love expressed in the lyrics. (see wikipedia article)
In this improvisation I used the two themes very freely. Have fun, I hope you like it!

Bravo! But...
Very nice, and I loved the variations.
My only criticism is that in the second verse of the main first theme, you forgot that it turns into MAJOR, and if you keep it MINOR it really changes completely meaning!

You play beautifully and your impro is very interesting, but it is a bit complicated to untrained ears, even if you know the original aria... Nevertheless, you do have something great here.
